What is my citizenship or immigration status?

If you're not sure about your citizenship or immigration status, check your official documents, like your passport, green card, visa, or any letters from immigration authorities. If you're still unsure, you can talk to an immigration attorney or visit the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) website for help.

What is my USCIS or A-number?

Your USCIS or A-number (Alien Registration Number) is on official immigration documents like your green card, work permit, or other immigration papers. It’s typically a 7-9 digit number. If you can’t find it, you can talk to a legal advisor or visit the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) website for help.

What is my I-551 number?

The I-551 number is on your Permanent Resident Card (green card). If you can’t find your I-551 number on your green card, look for a 13-digit number printed in the lower right corner of the card. If you don’t have your card, you can contact USCIS to request a replacement.

What is my I-94 number?

The I-94 number is a document number you get when you arrive in the U.S. and can be found on the I-94 form. If you’ve lost it or can’t find it, you can get your I-94 number online on the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) website. Once you log in, use your passport details to find your I-94 information.

What is my foreign passport number?

Your foreign passport number can be found on the passport itself. It’s typically printed on the page with your photo and may be labeled as "Passport No." or similar. If you have trouble finding it, refer to the instructions or guidelines provided by the issuing country’s embassy or consulate.

When does my work authorization expire?

Your work authorization expiration date is typically on your Employment Authorization Document (EAD) card. Check the card for the expiration date. If you don’t have the card or need to renew it, go to the USCIS website for instructions and make sure you're allowed to work legally.
