Generally speaking, we highly discourage you from leaving a shift incomplete. You've signed up for and committed to a shift start and shift end time and we request you to abide by those.
Requests for Partial Shift Availability
If you accept a shift but know in advance you won’t be available for the full length (e.g., QuickBox shifts spanning 12 hours):
Inform your on-site supervisor or manager upon arrival.
Follow the outlined approval process to avoid penalties.
That being said, we understand unexpected emergencies come up. In such cases, it is important to speak with the shift supervisor and make them aware that you have to leave, and share details around why. Then, they will give you the clock-out code so you can 'finish' your shift on the app at the time you leave the shift. Explicitly notify your supervisor with a reason for leaving early, wait for their approval, and clock out at the agreed-upon time. Your pay will reflect the hours worked as approved by the business.
Medical Emergencies
Leaving a Shift Early Due to Illness or Emergency
Notify Your Supervisor: Inform your on-site supervisor immediately about your situation and explain why you need to leave early. This ensures they are aware of your departure and can provide necessary support.
Obtain a Clock-Out Code: Request the clock-out code from your supervisor to properly end your shift in the Traba app. This step is crucial to avoid being marked as abandoning the shift.
Follow Site-Specific Procedures: Adhere to any additional instructions provided by your supervisor, such as where to check out or who else to inform.
Submit Documentation: If required, provide a doctor’s note or other medical documentation to support your early departure. This can help remove any penalties associated with leaving early.
For medical reasons, inform your supervisor, obtain approval, and submit a doctor’s note if required. Proper documentation can help remove penalties. Leaving early for health reasons generally won’t harm your future opportunities if you follow the correct procedures. Documentation can be uploaded through the app or provided to your area manager. If you arrive early for any reason (e.g., transportation), you must still adhere to the scheduled shift times. Leaving early in such cases also requires explicit permission from the onsite supervisor or business.
Missing a Scheduled Shift Due to a Medical Emergency
Cancel the Shift in the App: Use the Traba app to cancel your shift as soon as you know you cannot attend. This notifies the necessary parties and updates your availability.
Provide a Doctor’s Note: Submit a doctor’s note or other supporting documentation to excuse your absence and avoid penalties. This documentation can be uploaded through the app or provided to your area manager.
Communicate Promptly: Notify Traba or your supervisor as soon as possible about your inability to attend the shift. Early communication helps ensure your absence is properly recorded.
Make sure to document your attendance correctly, including recording your clock-out time appropriately to avoid any penalties or confusion regarding shift completion. This step is essential for maintaining accurate attendance records. If the business sends you home early or cuts the shift short, it will not negatively impact your profile. This ensures that workers are not penalized for circumstances beyond their control. Compensation for being sent home early is only provided if explicitly approved by the business. Additionally, check the Traba app for additional shifts to make up for lost hours. This situation does not affect your reliability metrics, ensuring that your future shift opportunities remain unaffected.
Consistency and Communication
Consistent communication with your supervisor is key to:
Maintaining a professional working relationship.
Ensuring mutual understanding of any adjustments to your assigned tasks or hours.
If you leave the shift location without informing a supervisor, you will be considered as having "abandoned" the shift, and you may not be able to return to that business to work again, in addition to having your worker metrics negatively impacted and have the risk of account suspension. Leaving early without approval may also result in pay deductions, emphasizing the importance of following the proper approval process. Additionally, if you leave without canceling the shift in the app, you may be marked as a no-show, which affects payment and reliability. Shifts cannot be canceled after they have started. If you need to cancel, do so before the shift begins to avoid being marked as a no-show.
However, adhering to prescribed procedures will help demonstrate professionalism and maintain eligibility for future shifts, ensuring a smooth operational workflow.
