Need to leave my shift early

Generally speaking, we highly discourage you from leaving a shift incomplete. You've signed up for and committed to a shift start and shift end time and we request you to abide by those.

Requests for Partial Shift Availability

If you accept a shift but know in advance you won’t be available for the full length (e.g., QuickBox shifts spanning 12 hours):

  • Inform your on-site supervisor or manager upon arrival.

  • Follow the outlined approval process to avoid penalties.

That being said, we understand unexpected emergencies come up. In such cases, it is important to speak with the shift supervisor and make them aware that you have to leave, and share details around why. Then, they will give you the clock-out code so you can 'finish' your shift on the app at the time you leave the shift. If you arrive early for any reason (e.g., transportation), you must still adhere to the scheduled shift times. Leaving early in such cases also requires explicit permission from the onsite supervisor or business.

Make sure to document your attendance correctly, including recording your clock-out time appropriately to avoid any penalties or confusion regarding shift completion. This step is essential for maintaining accurate attendance records. If the business sends you home early or cuts the shift short, it will not negatively impact your profile. This ensures that workers are not penalized for circumstances beyond their control.

Consistency and Communication

Consistent communication with your supervisor is key to:

  • Maintaining a professional working relationship.

  • Ensuring mutual understanding of any adjustments to your assigned tasks or hours.

If you leave the shift location without informing a supervisor, you will be considered as having "abandoned" the shift and you may not be able to return to that business to work again, in addition to having your worker metrics negatively impacted and have the risk of account suspension.

However, adhering to prescribed procedures will help demonstrate professionalism and maintain eligibility for future shifts, ensuring a smooth operational workflow.
