Shift Invitations - How do they work?

Please note that an invite is NOT a guarantee of you getting a spot on the shift.

A business may invite you to work a future shift they’ve posted. When this happens, you will receive a text message, and possibly an email or app notification depending on your notification settings.

How invitations work

  • Invitations are sent to multiple workers at the same time to help businesses fill shifts quickly.

  • Because of this, receiving an invitation does NOT guarantee you a spot.

  • Shifts are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

👉 This means you should accept the shift as soon as possible if you want to secure a spot.

Why you may not be able to accept a shift

You might not be able to accept an invited shift for a few reasons:

  • The shift is already full

  • Your application is pending or under review

  • You already have a conflicting shift (there must be at least a 1-hour gap between shifts at different businesses)

  • There are temporary system or account limitations

If you see an error like “Try Again Later,” the shift may already be full or your account may be under review. Contact support if the issue continues.

W-2 workers

If you are a W-2 worker, you may not be able accept shifts on your own as your shifts are assigned manually by the recruitment team.

“Pending” or “In Review” applications

If your shift application shows as “pending” or “in review,” it means the business is manually reviewing applicants.

You will only be able to accept the shift after your application is approved.

Waitlist

If you open the invite link and are taken to a waitlist instead of seeing an “Accept” button:

  • The shift is already full

  • Do NOT go to the shift, or you will be turned away without pay

If a spot opens up:

  • Waitlisted workers will be notified

  • The first person to accept the opening gets the spot

To improve your chances, make sure your app notifications are turned on.
